A couple of days ago Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa performed their new song “Payphone” on The Voice. Now the first covers have hit the web.

While Lady Gaga found a new way to astonish the mass at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, her performance of “You & I” (US Only) demonstrated once again what a great singer she is. Even though I liked the version of Haley Reinhart at this years American Idol even better. YouTube got a bunch of cool cover versions of this song. Check out some of my favorites below.

“Moves Like Jagger” is one of the most popular songs this summer. Despite the fact that the hook kinda sounds like a totally “chilled-out” cow (“Mooooo”). Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera premiered this song on “The Voice”. Here are some talents for the next season.. Do you have moves like Jagger?

This is actually one of my favorite songs this year. It’s one of many great songs on Adele’s hit album “21″. The fact that probably no one can sing this song as brilliant as Adele does, the search for good covers was a challenge. Luckily I’m not the only one who likes this song, so I found plenty of interesting covers. Check out some of my absolute favorites below.

At least since the “Leave Britney Alone” video got viral, a YouTube Search that contains the name “Britney Spears” is always pretty “special”. It’s almost like a “Gaga” search. You don’t know what to expect. Even if you search specifically for cover versions. But I guess this makes it so much more fun and I found some really creative videos.

Well, it’s always fun to look for new talents and great covers on YouTube. But searching Lady Gaga covers is really exhausting, because there are much more videos than even I can ever watch. What’s great about it, though, is the fact that acoustic versions of Lady Gaga songs almost always sound better than the original studio version (imho). It doesn’t really matter if Gaga sings them herself or one of our great YouTube talents does it. Take a look at what I found.
Oh, and if you were looking for the version of an 8-year old rapper -> this is your link.

Well, since we were on a break for quite some time, we may have missed some great songs just as their cover versions. I wouldn’t call myself a Coldplay fan at all, but they have provided us with some pretty huge hit songs. One of their latest hits is “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”. Many artists felt inspired and covered the cr*p out of that song.

Okay, this is our comeback post. And the explanation why I chose Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” for this is really easy: It’s a fun song that is 100% pop, which means that a cover version could go in any direction. There are still some amazing undiscovered talents out there. Let’s see how they interpreted this song.

Well, we took some time to choose the next cover song and finally decided to look for cover versions of the country hit “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum, which was released earlier this year. And our YouTube friends really love this song. If you have any of your own favorite covers to share with us, please go ahead. We know that there are more great cover versions out there.

Rihanna’s new album “Loud” will be released in the next couple of days all over the world. Her output over the last years is huge. We already featured her song “Only Girl” in an earlier post. Now we were looking for cover versions of her song “What’s My Name”, which originally features Drake. We didn’t find any (salient) covers with a rap part, but when you look at the awesome videos below, you won’t really miss it anyway.
